I can easily fit three duffels, although when you pile them onto skis or paddles it starts to get tight. Nary a drop has leaked inside and I've driven through some nasty storms. I don't notice any noise, especially compared to the old ski rack this replaced, nor do I think mileage is much affected.
Yakima rocketbox pro 14 update#
UPDATE July 2019 - I've now been on several roadtrips with this box in all sorts of weather (snow, rain, heat) and couldn't be more pleased. That being said, Yakima customer service assured me this would not impact safety or performance, and they were great about shipping me replacement rivets and even comped me an accessory for my trouble. Overall quality is good but I detected one minor flaw in my box (a loose rivet securing the inside stabilizer onto the box). They pop back without much difficulty but this is annoying The plastic thingies that keep the box in the open position are not well secured and are likely to fall off every time you take the box off your car. I can even keep my radio antenna plugged it (although it gets a bit bent). Genuinely tool-less installation.Įasily fits on my Honda CRV without blocking the rear hatch. You don't want to be stuck figuring this out in the rain while your family/friends complain that you're running late for the big trip. So I recommend setting this up in good weather in advance of your first road trip just to get a feel for it. Step #1 is the most work but you should only have to do it once. Adjusting how it sits on your particular car/roof rack, and 2. There are two necessary steps to fitting this box: 1. So far I haven't been on a roadtrip but here is my impression just out of the box: Got this box for my Honda CRV, mainly for skis and accoutrements for family trips.
